"Founded in 2013 by Alisa Reynolds and her pastry-chef sister, Theresa Fountain, this Los Angeles soul-food staple announced it will end dine-in service on July 31 and transition into a catering operation while producing a line of products and merchandise. Reynolds, who hosted Searching for Soul Food on Hulu and was nominated for a Best Chef: California James Beard Award in 2024, announced the closure in an Instagram post and told the Los Angeles Times that the shift is something she’s been considering for years and that she looks forward to feeding people in their homes and doing pop-ups. The closure is cited alongside a broader wave of restaurant shutdowns in Los Angeles driven by lingering pandemic effects, the 2023 industry strikes, recent wildfire impacts on dining, immigration enforcement-related workforce fears, and rising costs." - Mona Holmes
