"At the corner of North Capitol Street and Florida Avenue I visited a new carryout that opened April 5; Aunteaboba x Supreme Barbecue operates at 2 Florida Avenue NE with takeout daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. (Uber Eats coming soon). The mash-up pairs Texas-style barbecue—smoked on a large indoor smoker—like 16-hour brisket, pork ribs, jerk chicken (with jerk ribs available with a one-day notice), and huge turkey legs, with deep-fried fish options (catfish, whiting, tilapia) and Filipino-American boba and smoothies in taro, honeydew and halo-halo styles. Family feasts ($38–$67) come with a mix of meats and sides by the quart, and the menu also lists a dozen sides including collard greens, cole slaw, mac and cheese, candied yams, and in-house pork rinds; meats are served with a trio of sauces including a "sweet and mild" option. The modern all-white replacement for the long-vacant New York Pizza building includes a touchscreen for walk-up ordering and a square waiting area with social-distancing markers. There’s a value lunch deal from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. (combos built around a half jerk chicken, smoked wings, ribs, or pulled meat with a small side and bottled drink for $8.50–$14). The beverage/snack side largely replicates the family’s Auntea Boba offerings—cereal milk, strawberry matcha, coconut milk teas, Vietnamese iced coffee—along with snacks like popcorn chicken (mild, spicy, extra spicy) and lumpia shanghai, and the owners plan to rebrand their Leon’s BBQ in Lanham and expand to Annandale, Virginia later in the year." - Tierney Plumb
