"Wawa, the Pennsylvania-based quick stop shop for subs, pretzels, and coffee that Philadelphians embrace with a rabid intensity, is opening its fifth D.C. store today at 4 p.m. in Adams Morgan (2424 18th Street NW). The chain will host a grand opening celebration with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6 p.m. and will be giving away free coffees through Sunday, September 29. There will also be a community lantern lighting to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Light the Night DC Walk. Washington City Paper has reported that not everyone in the neighborhood is thrilled about the arrival." - Gabe Hiatt
