"Chef Abby Lee will open a self-described “modern Malaysian” restaurant at the Market Peckham complex in June, giving her cooking a new lease of life after an earlier Shoreditch launch was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic. The menu is more self-consciously Malaysian with a focus on Nyonya dishes and regional curries: expect a Perak-style black pepper chicken curry that leans on the fragrance of Sarawak peppercorn and a tamarind-sour, bracingly hot asam pedas drawn from Minangkabau and Malay cuisines. Playful, modern touches appear alongside tradition — a lunch-only Hainanese chicken sando features poached chicken with ginger & spring onion oil, kewpie mayo, chicken-fat chilli vinegar, fried onions and cucumber, while the “M Wing” is a deep-fried chicken tossed in a pungent anchovy sambal. Lee will pair the food with a natural wine list curated by Les Caves de Pyrene, emphasizing zesty, juicy and rich flavour profiles." - James Hansen
