"The Arizona-based, cannabis-themed sandwich chain is opening its first Texas location near the University of Texas campus in mid-April at 3016 Guadalupe Street (the former Wild Wood Bakehouse). The menu centers on subs, salads and ‘munchies’ like pretzel nuggets and hummus platters, plus desserts such as cookies and brownies; despite the cannabis branding, no dishes contain CBD or cannabis. The theme appears in the décor and inventive sandwich names — for example, the Chronic is a barbecue roast beef sub and the Stick Icky is a peanut butter and jelly — and the shop will feature two Austin-specific sandwiches. Each restaurant includes a full bar offering items like Spiked Kool Aid drinks and margaritas. Founded in Tempe, Arizona in 1998 by Scott Jennings, the Austin franchise will be operated by father-and-son Vince and Joseph DeMaioribus (Joseph previously managed at Jersey Mike’s), who also plan additional locations in north and south Austin (Round Rock or Cedar Park)." - Erin Russell
