"I noted the Taiwanese chain's signature fried chicken cutlets are advertised as more than 30 centimetres—described as the size of a human face or 'foot-long'—and at this Montreal location they sell the 'large fried chicken' for around $10 before tax with seasoning choices of salt and pepper, spicy, seaweed, or plum; customers can pay a bit more for a cheese version or choose an extra-crispy option. While the oversized cutlets are the main draw, the menu also includes popcorn chicken, sides such as fried mushrooms, sweet potatoes and regular french fries, and specialty drinks like a green apple yogurt drink or strawberry soda. The chain began in the early 1990s at Taipei’s Shilin Night Market and grew into a major success often drawing long lines; it expanded across Southeast Asia and entered Canada and the U.S. in 2015–2016. In Canada it operates as a franchise apparently managed out of Toronto, with locations in Toronto, Kitchener and Windsor and preparations to open in Vancouver. Status — Hot Star Large Fried Chicken is open at 1953 Sainte-Catherine West." - Tim Forster
