"Opening its first Georgia location in September on Peachtree Street in Midtown, Sugar Factory American Brasserie staged a grand opening party planned for Friday, September 27 at 8 p.m., which included a guest appearance and DJ set by actor Nick Cannon. Claiming to be the “most Instagrammed restaurant” in the country, it trades on over-the-top desserts, $30 candy-filled cocktails, and a steady parade of reality-TV stars and influencers—highlighted by an Atlanta-specific gummy bear chandelier. The two-story, 8,000-square-foot space (in the former Mi Cocina) includes a cafe serving rainbow doughnuts and ice cream, a confections shop with over 500 types of candy, a marble bar seating 12, a 200-seat dining room with red tufted banquets and crystal chandeliers, and a 60-seat patio with its own 12-seat bar. The menu runs from breakfast through dinner with banana split crepes and pancakes drizzled in chocolate, sampler platters of onion rings, fried mac and cheese pops, chicken fingers, and wings, as well as steaks, salads, pizza, and burgers—including rainbow sliders and a waffle breakfast burger stuffed with bacon, sausage, and hash browns topped with cheese and a fried egg, served with gravy and maple syrup. For extreme, camera-ready desserts there’s the King Kong (a 12-person, 24-scoop sundae covered in gummy bears and sprinkles) and milkshakes served in chocolate-covered mugs like the Barbie (a strawberry gelato and vanilla ice cream blend topped with marshmallow fluff and pink rock candy). The bar offers oversized $30 64-ounce “smoking candy goblets” such as the lollipop passion garnished with lollipops and candy necklaces, plus sugar-laden martinis like the sour apple lolly rimmed with Pop Rocks and garnished with a lollipop for $14." - Beth McKibben
