"I followed the Gaza solidarity encampment at the University of Minnesota as organizers met with interim president Jeff Ettinger and were told the administration expected the camp to be taken down by 5 p.m.—an agreement organizers said they hadn’t made—prompting an all-hands call and anticipation of a police sweep that ultimately didn’t happen; while protesters negotiated demands about disclosure of investments and divestment from companies profiting from the war, police had appeared semi-frequently elsewhere on campus (arresting nine people in front of Walter Library at one point), and organizers eventually reached a compromise with the university on May 2, after which tents were taken down in a light drizzle and a new march soon sprang up." - Justine Jones
