Portland’s Botanical Bakeshop Explores Filipino Culture Through Pastries and House Plants | Eater Portland

"In Woodstock, I found Botanical Bakeshop to be a plant-filled café where pastries and plants are intentionally tied to Filipino culture. Geleen Abenoja (Shop Halo Halo) and Daphne Peters (Daphne’s Botanicals) opened their businesses in a shared space in July, creating a relaxed spot where people can shop for plants while sipping sampaguita milk tea lattes and nibbling calamansi shortbread cookies. The shop has become a hub for the Filipino community—hosting workshops, BIPOC vendor markets, and Tagalog storytime—and serves as a platform for the duo to explore and teach Filipino heritage by pairing traditional desserts with plants native to the Philippines." - Janey Wong
