"I noticed the 3,411-square-foot Shack occupies the ground floor of the Shops at Canal Place (taking over part of the Brooks Brothers store) with a street entrance at the corner of Canal and North Peters streets; it opened December 3 as Shake Shack’s Downtown flagship. The booths are made from lumber certified by the Forest Stewardship Council and the tabletops are reclaimed bowling alley lanes. Known for hormone-and-antibiotic-free burgers, chicken, and hot dogs, this location will also serve wine and local beers from Abita Brewery, Nola Brewing Company, Dixie Beer and Second Line Brewing, and it’s open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m." - Clair Lorell
