"The newly opened pizzeria side of Assaggi Osteria is now serving an array of Neapolitan pies and small dishes in McLean, Virginia. Pizzas are certified by the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana and baked in the restaurant’s new stone oven. One core offering is a traditional margherita made with fresh tomato, buffalo mozzarella, and basil. Additional menu items include meatballs, Italian cold cuts, and bruschetta with chicken livers, capers, parsley, and pancetta. The dozen pies on the menu can be topped with sausage, olives, burrata, prosciutto, and more. Italian wines mostly hail from central and southern Italy. The restaurant, owned by Cafe Milano alum Domenico Cornacchia, debuted in the McLean Square shopping center in 2009 and underwent a months-long renovation in early 2017." - Tierney Plumb
