"A critically acclaimed Queens restaurant has opened in Chelsea Market, bringing traditional Thai dishes such as the duck panang curry to the well-established food hall. Ayada's new 45-seat, 1,300-square-foot stall — the restaurant’s first expansion since it opened in Elmhurst 11 years ago — will serve larger, family-style plates alongside cocktails, beer, and wine. The menu includes favorites like the duck panang curry, fried fish with green mango salad, ground catfish salad, chive dumplings, and drunken noodles, with dishes priced from $9 to $40; these heat-packing items helped earn Ayada a positive one-star review from Times critic Ligaya Mishan in 2010, who praised the green papaya salad. Founded in 2008 by Duangjai “Kitty” Thammasat and still run as a family operation with Thammasat and her nephew and business partner Polpat Klongkhayam, the new Chelsea Market outpost sits next to the Lobster Place and across from Chalait at 75 Ninth Ave., between 15th and 16th streets, and is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m." - Carla Vianna
