"Boudin Bakery — the oldest continuously running business, let alone bakery, in San Francisco — is ringing in its 175th anniversary this year, per SFist. As the legend goes, founder Isidore Boudin, an immigrant from Burgundy, France, started the business with a bit of sourdough starter he got from a fellow prospector in 1849. He grew it into a bustling bakery and, eventually, horse-drawn carriage delivery service, shipping bread all over the city.
