Houston Brewpub Local Brewing Group Rebrands as Gristworkz | Eater Houston

"Rebranded as Gristworkz, the 7,500-square-foot brewery at 1504 Chapman Street (originally launched in early 2020 as Local Group Brewing) was purchased by Distincture Hospitality co-owners Dave Sorrell, Jorge Benitez, and Morgan Green in May 2022 and will operate under the new name starting this fall; the name references the brewing process of grinding malt and cereal into milled grist to extract the malt from the grains. The hospitality group promises “to build something for Houstonians that they’ve never seen before,” and the brewery will remain open through renovations. Chef Daniel Leal (formerly of Night Shift) will lead new beers, wine, and cocktails and continue Local Group’s tradition of a weekly rotating menu, including Korean BBQ Steak Night and specials on burgers and pizza, with full-kitchen items such as smoked pork belly gorditas, freshly made churros, and jalapeno and cheese kolaches. The site will host Blue Tile Coffee pop-ups at 9 a.m. Wednesday through Sunday, offer canned cocktails to-go, and program weekly neighborhood events like gatherings for cyclists and runners, trivia nights, and silent disco parties." - Brittany Britto Garley
