Your Guide to Eating in South Sacramento - Eater SF

"Alzono’s recently made a move for the first times since Jesus and Wanda Alonzo opened the beloved South Sacramento restaurant in 1969, jumping from one section of the Mid Century Modern shopping plaza to another in preparation for its demolition. While the menu does have American breakfast favorites like waffles and pancakes, most people come for the menudo and posole, the latter of which is a bowl of steaming hangover cure, containing bits of pork and tripe in a rich, red broth. Top it with a bit of cabbage, a squeeze of lemon and a spoonful of raw white onion for the full effect." - Illyanna Maisonet

Gaspachos

Fruit parlor · South City Farms

We are best known for our Traditional Gaspacho, Strawberry and Mango and Mangonada. The Traditional Gaspacho includes Mexican yam, mango and pineapple, freshly squeezed orange juice, our black chili and Mexican cheese. Gaspachos is family owned and inspired by the initiative to share healthier Mexican food options with our community. We opened our first brick and mortar, Gaspachos, in South Sacramento in 2019. The name is inspired by the authentic fruit cup known as a Gaspacho from Morelia, Michoacan. There, we've crafted raw, fruit cup recipes deeply rooted to our Mexican upbringing.Gaspachos 2.0 proudly carries on our vision with Mexican dishes that don’t leave you feeling heavy and some of our signature fruit cups.
