"After closing at the end of last year after 36 years, the popular Upper East Side French bistro has found a new home at 1578 First Ave., at 82nd Street, in the space that formerly housed Primavera. Owners Alex McNeice and Mark DiGiulio plan to duplicate the menu — boeuf bourguignon, troutmeuniere, duck magret, and roast chicken with tarragondemi glace, among other French classics — and even half of the kitchen crew will be back; “we are not trying to reinvent the wheel,” DiGiulio says. The new location will seat 70 with hopes to add 15 outdoor seats, will include a downstairs private dining room, and will reinstall red velvet banquettes along with posters, photographs, and book jackets. DiGiulio originally opened at 240 West 14th St. in 1984 and later a second spot at 323 East 79th St. (where former mayor Michael Bloomberg was a regular); the restaurant closed at the start of 2019 when that building was sold and slated for demolition, and Quatorze Bis is on track to reopen this fall." - Beth Landman
