"Indus, from the owners of downtown food stall entry Bhoomi, is the kind of spice the North Shore sorely needed. A pellet smoker allows the owners to smoke dhal (lentils), brisket, and more. The menu is unlike any other Indian restaurant with amped-up versions of classics like khichdi that are flavorful without gimmicks — they’re not pandering to Western tastes and throwing truffles and calling it a day. The bone-in lamb shank curry is tender and impressive, the chef’s favorite dish. There’s also a wagyu beef steak. The brisket is so good that members of Highland Park’s Jewish community have asked the owners if they can make orders for the High Holidays. This is worth the drive for city dwellers." - Ashok Selvam
