"For the last decade I knew of just one place in San Francisco where you could play a round of mini golf while sipping an espresso martini: Mission District’s Urban Putt, a favorite for first dates and group get-togethers since 2014. It closed on December 30 after founder Steve Fox sold the original location (and a Denver outpost) to Funlab so the site will reopen as an outpost of Australian mini-golf venture Holey Moley; Fox said the pandemic’s impact—especially the six-foot distancing rule—was too great to overcome on his own, and Urban Putt ended up closing for 13 months. He plans to open a new Urban Putt in San Jose, and fans can head to 201 South Second Street there by the end of January 2024; Fox added he doesn’t have hard feelings and “believes that Holey Moley will do a good job.”" - Paolo Bicchieri
