Smorgasburg’s Todo Verde Wants to Open a Healthy Eatery in East LA | Eater LA

"Founded by Eastside chef Jocelyn Ramirez in 2015, this vegan catering company blends South American and Mexican roots into healthy, plant-based takes on familiar dishes. After launching at LA farmers markets and building a popular stand at Smorgasburg serving fresh juices and smoothies, the operation now aims to open a brick-and-mortar Eastside cafe. To fund the move, the team is launching a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo to raise $50,000 (campaign launches tomorrow and is scheduled to run through August 3); the money will cover equipment, permits, and renovations. Perks for donors include smoothies, vegan mac and cheese, private food demos, and at-home healthy-visit consultations, and the venture was born from Ramirez’s shift away from academia after seeing family members struggle with chronic health issues and her desire to improve access to healthy food." - Mona Holmes
