"At the new Frederick location (5615 Spectrum Drive), I found a 2,166-square-foot, 36-seat Cava with a patio that opens today and operates from 10:45 a.m. to 10 p.m. The site is one of five coast-to-coast locations — and the only one in the D.C. market — testing a new Pick-Up By Car model that adds a pick-up window taking orders from an app that lets diners schedule a time to pull up for Mediterranean bowls; customers can also place drive-thru orders online. CEO Brett Schulman explained they wanted to rethink the inefficiency of traditional drive-thrus, where you order on site and wait in long lines. The location is part of the homegrown fast-casual chain that has expanded nationally (more than 75 locations) and recently acquired Zoe’s Kitchen, and the brand is also rolling out its dips and spreads in Whole Foods Markets." - Tierney Plumb
