"In Point Loma I discovered a new breed of ice cream parlor where customers can taste a curated collection from some of the top ice cream makers in the United States: The Craft Creamery, co-owned and operated by Alex Bock, an aerospace engineer who first got the idea while traveling the country doing demos for his jetpack company and visiting the best breweries and ice cream shops at every stop. Inspired by craft beer bars, whose taps reflect the finest talents throughout the brewing industry, he serves top-selling flavors from a range of creameries nationwide and has solved logistical hurdles by picking up two to four pallets of product directly from each company. At the Rosecrans shop the inventory is constantly rotating and could include flavors from Petersen’s Ice Cream out of Chicago or Seattle’s Full Tilt Ice Cream, and the menu is paired with specialty drinks—like a honey lavender latte inspired by Fosselman’s honey lavender ice cream. He’s currently featuring OB Beans in the coffee program and plans to apply the same model to other roasteries, open more locations of The Craft Creamery, and build a wholesale business to supply restaurants and hotels." - Candice Woo
