"A bazaar-inspired halal restaurant serving the cuisines of Afghanistan, India, and Pakistan is opening in Hawaiian Gardens on February 9; behind the project is Imran “Ali” Mookhi, the chef-owner of Fullerton’s contemporary Indian, Michelin Bib Gourmand selection Khan Saab Desi Craft Kitchen. The restaurant’s name means 'noise' in Desi culture and nods to Mumbai’s Chor Bazaar, and the Akar Studios–designed space is intended to capture the vibrant energy of spice markets and bazaars. The menu includes shareable snacks such as papadum with chutneys and idli fries, larger dishes like keema mattar (ground beef curry with English peas) and a whole branzino with a Bengali mustard rub, desserts featuring cardamom, tamarind, and saffron from chef Mark Medina, and a full selection of wine, beer, and spirit-free cocktails. SHOR is located at 12155 E. Carson Street in Hawaiian Gardens and is open Monday–Friday 4 p.m.–10 p.m. and Saturday–Sunday 2 p.m.–10 p.m." - Cathy Chaplin
