"A growing Austin bakery/cafe/deli mini-chain is opening a new South First location at 1804 South First Street in Bouldin Creek in early 2025, taking over the former Foxtrot flagship. The South First outpost will offer the chain’s familiar menu of pastries, cakes, and breads alongside sandwiches, salads, breakfasts, rotisserie chicken, and other savory offerings, plus beer and wine, with both dine-in and takeout service; parent company McGuire Moorman Lambert Hospitality Group intends this address to serve as the brand’s flagship. The business traces its roots to longtime Sweetish Hill Bakery (1975–2018), which MML acquired and rebranded in 2018, and the brand has been expanding recently — opening an Aspen location in May, operating a temporary neighborhood daytime outpost called Little Swedish while the original Clarksville site is repositioned for a 2027 reopening in MML’s Sixth & Blanco development, and converting a Westlake location formerly occupied by Blue Dahlia later this year. The new shop will join a sibling Vietnamese restaurant in the neighborhood and replaces a beleaguered Foxtrot store after that chain’s bankruptcy and uncertain future for other Austin locations." - Nadia Chaudhury
