"Dallas-based Malibu Poke, from James Beard Award-nominated chef Matt McCallister, has announced an opening date. Amid claims that poke has peaked, the third location of the restaurant will open at 211 Walter Seaholm Drive on November 15. Malibu Poke features customizable poke bowls from sashimi-grade seafood and local produce. In addition to classic poke ingredients (tuna, salmon, tofu, seaweed, rice) there are also more unconventional ingredients like umami powder, smoked bonito aioli, and coconut curry. There are also options with cooked seafood. In all, a total of 63,000 combinations are possible. In terms of drinks, Malibu Poke offers beer, sake, kombucha, teas, wine, and low-sugar cocktails and mocktails. Chef Matt McCallister comes from shuttered FT33 in Dallas. In addition to its chef, Malibu Poke is known for its human-less kiosk ordering system, which uses facial recognition to remember previous orders. The space was designed by local shop Michael Hsu, who also worked on P. Terry’s, Loro, and Fareground. Malibu Poke is open every day from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m." - Erin Russell
