"The space for former DIY venue Palisades, which closed after a police raid in 2016, has been transformed into a modern Sicilian restaurant from a team of musicians and artists who have never opened a restaurant before. Concrete opened at 906 Broadway at Stockton Street for dinner and weekend brunch, serving a menu of street-food-inspired small plates like a deep fried mozzarella sandwich, as well as bigger entrees, like pastas and burgers. There’s a local focus, with bread coming from Balthazar, meat from Astoria-based International Meat Market, and seafood from the Bronx/Hampton Bays supplier Out of the Blue. Syrups for the cocktails are made in-house." - Stefanie Tuder
