"Debuting this fall in Studio City, this Spanish restaurant and wine bar is the first independent venture from longtime Los Angeles restaurant veteran Che Peña, opening in late September. Based on Peña’s time living in Spain, the menu showcases regional flavors from Valencia, Sevilla, San Sebastian, and Barcelona, with traditional plates co-produced with chef Rafael Torres—who has a long history of developing opening menus in Los Angeles, including the now-closed Il Piccolino—such as jamon Iberico boards, garlicky gambas al ajillo, paella, small pinxtos, Spanish tortilla, and steak prepared over an open flame. The wine list spans bottles from Spain, California, France, and Italy. In the former Akira Sushi space, the room now features warmer tones thanks to design touches by Peña’s wife, Nancilee Peña. It’s open daily from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and until 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday at 11830 Ventura Boulevard, Studio City, CA 91604." - Mona Holmes
