"I learned that Mini Deli, an Upper East Side staple known for its Italian sandwiches and espresso, is closing this week after operating at 1266 Second Avenue (between East 66th and 67th Streets) since 1978. Owner Pino Cinquemani, who took over more than 35 years ago, attributed the closure to several factors including the pandemic and changing demographics in Lenox Hill: "It used to be more family-oriented," he says. "Now it’s a bunch of young kids staying in an apartment, one on top of each other." - Luke Fortney
