"Homegrown sweets shop Nicecream is making good on plans to blanket the D.C. area with its futuristic flavors, with its fourth location scheduled to start making cold brew coffee ice cream and more on Saturday, September 22 in Shaw. Nicecream uses liquid nitrogen to flash freeze its assorted flavors and switches up its menu weekly (think: honey lavender and key lime pie). Its newest Shaw outpost will dish out free ice cream to the first 100 guests starting at 11 a.m. on opening day. Its debut flavor calendar for Shaw calls for brown sugar baked pear, caramel apple, and dark chocolate sea salt scoops. The Northern Virginia-based brand opened its first store in Clarendon in 2014, followed by another in Old Town in 2017; its first D.C. store joined the mix this summer in Adams Morgan. The 900-square-foot location sits at the base of Shaw’s luxury apartment building, The Shay." - Tierney Plumb
