"I'm glad to see Ortanique returning to Coral Gables as a limited-time pop-up from Thursday, September 28 through Saturday, December 16, 2023, presented by chef Cindy Hutson and her long-time partner Delius Shirley as a tribute (not a formal relaunch) after its closure in 2020 following a 21-year run. The pop-up will run Thursdays through Saturdays with two seatings per night (40 guests per slot within a two-hour timeframe; reservations available 6:00–6:30 p.m. and 8:15–8:45 p.m.), offering a three-course prix-fixe menu at $98 per person (excluding bar and tips) that begins with a complimentary amuse-bouche and features Hutson’s distinctive “cuisine of the sun.” Menus will rotate, but the inaugural weekend spotlights Red Stripe–steamed Mediterranean mussels, braised short ribs with Caribbean butter beans, and butterflied yellowtail snapper escovitch, and diners can choose from cocktails—including Ortanique’s fan-favorite mojito—as well as beers and wines. The pop-up occupies the former QP Tapas space inside MKT Kitchen at 1831 Ponce de Leon in Coral Gables, and reservations are first-come, first-served by calling 305-458-8422." - Olee Fowler
