"A new Yemeni spot on the North Side that highlights underrepresented southern Arabian Peninsula cuisine, led by Chef Abu Hani. Standouts include haneeth, a meat-and-rice dish flavored with a complex, variable ashawaij spice blend; burbling bowls of saltah and fahsa (meat and root-vegetable stews) finished with fenugreek goam; and mutapq—griddled flatbread pouches filled with meat or eggs, mayo, and melted cheese—the beef version described as a kind of proto-cheesesteak and so compelling that the chef “could sell nothing but mutapq” and still draw a crowd. Finish with masoob, an Arabian banana bread pudding that balances sweet and savory notes." - Jeffy Mai
