"Honolulu-born Paina Cafe has debuted its second Ninth Island location at the intersection of Decatur Boulevard and Blue Diamond Road, so I no longer have to travel to Spring Mountain Road for its Hawaiian-inspired, counter-service menu that mirrors the original at the Korean Town Plaza. The cafe opens at 8 a.m. serving its very popular mochi doughnuts in taro, strawberry, red velvet, matcha, and guava, with the full menu available at 10 a.m.; highlights include their pioneering poke bowl creations, ahi or chicken katsu, lomi-lomi salmon, teriyaki beef, chicken, kalua pig, and fried saimin, with spam musabi and onigiri as sides. It sits a few steps from the recently opened Bella Vita Italian restaurant and the under-construction ProteinHouse vegan restaurant, and is open daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m." - Bradley Martin
