Urban Distillery Bringing Spirits and Small Plates to the East Village | Eater San Diego

"I learned that Storyhouse Spirits will open this October in the East Village, joining You & Yours Distilling Co. and Old Harbor Distilling Co. The 7,600-square-foot historic building at the corner of J Street and Park has been reimagined by Blalock & Partners Architectural Design Studio into an “industrial chic” space that will house a distillery and production facility, a tasting room and bar that opens onto a sidewalk patio, and a mezzanine lounge perched above the distillery floor with skyline and waterfront views. Co-founder Steve Kuftinec brings nearly 20 years at Utah’s Uinita Brewing, while head distiller and co-founder Matt Kidd was a Marine pilot before turning his focus to making spirits; their first run of bottles will feature a Seaside Vodka, Meyer Lemon & Cucumber Vodka, California Dry Gin, and California Coastal Gin, with future releases slated to include Bourbon and an American Single Malt Whiskey. In addition to selling bottles, Storyhouse will have a full-service bar and lounge serving beer, wine, and cocktails featuring its products, and will offer mainly seasonal small plates from a copper wood-fired oven." - Candice Woo
