"After a few years of radio silence I saw images on its Facebook page of windows freshly papered over and learned the well-loved Italian restaurant reopened last week to much applause. In business since 1999, the spot—having changed hands and briefly used names like Pinokio (and still appearing as Il Bernardino in Google searches)—has been revived by one of its original owners with friendly faces at the helm: Christian Bisson (Mercuri) heads a largely private import wine list as sommelier, while Evan Gubersky (Ludger), Alain Starosta (Comptoir 21) and Pablo Rojas (Provisions) address the kitchen. Rojas and Starosta previously worked at this location, and Rojas is collaborating with Federico Martino (Cho) to reinstate the Italian classics the place is known for—meatballs, sausages, carpaccio and a seasonal pasta-driven menu (and notably no pizza). The 55-seater (75 in summer with its terrasse) was one of the first projects designed by Zebulon Pérron, who refreshed the interior in 2006; the restaurant is open every day from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Un décor unique, une ambiance décontractée, des plats goûteux, vous êtes au Petit Italien." - JP Karwacki
