A Vegan Burger Restaurant Is Heading to Dearborn | Eater Detroit

"Coming to 22018 W. Michigan Ave. in Dearborn by late summer, this new meatless fast-food spot—Unburger Grill—is the brainchild of Jane Beckwith and chef Christopher Oliver, who brings more than 30 years of restaurant experience and switched to a vegan diet two years ago after a diabetes diagnosis. The menu, still in development, is billed as plant-based comfort fast food and will showcase burgers such as a black bean burger, a stuffed portabella mushroom, and a chickpea-oat burger with Thai red curry, alongside sides like lime-cilantro Brussels sprout slaw, zoodle pasta salad, smoothies, and other offerings like fries, nachos, and desserts. The partners have launched a $55,000 Kickstarter campaign that has raised more than $5,000 so far and ends on Wednesday, June 13; if it reaches its goal, the restaurant will join a growing cohort of vegan establishments across metro Detroit." - Brenna Houck
