"Mexi-Cali cafe La Chiquiada, owned by Catherine Zuber, is opening in downtown Decatur this spring for breakfast tacos, conchas, and coffee in the morning and street tacos, roast chicken dinners, and happy hour in the evening. Located on West Trinity Place in the same building as co-working space WeWork, La Chiquiada will feature banquette seating and a 12-seat bar inside, along with a covered patio overlooking the courtyard at the Amli apartment complex. Mornings kick off at La Chiquiada with breakfast tacos and freshly baked conchas and buttermilk biscuits topped with jam, carnitas, or chipotle cheese, and coffee from Prevail Coffee roasters. The cafe menu shifts gears later in the day, with lunch and dinner offering street tacos, quesadillas, and larger entrees, like chile relleno, citrus-marinated flank steak, and a roast chicken dinner for two served with rice and fresh tortillas. Happy Hour features snacks and wines from northern California as well as cocktails, including a margarita, a cucumber gimlet, and a take on the gin fizz.
