"A new California-inspired lounge on 32nd Avenue by Hudson Hill owner Jake Soffes transforms a blank space in the Alexan LoHi into a Palm Springs–1960s–evoking spot named for his aunt Jane and the Rolling Stones song; palm fronds sprout between all-angular benches and tables, orb lights glow from the countertops and ceilings, and a record player will start late-summer nights playing 'Pet Sounds.' To manage the bar Soffes recruited Minetta Gould, formerly of the underground Saint Ellie on Platte Street, whose goal is to make cocktails 'plain and simple, nothing scary' in the vein of Curio and American Bonded. Cocktails include a whiskey sour made with a honey egg cream that uses leftover yolks from egg-white drinks, a 'pink gin' of ice-cold, undiluted Plymouth with Angostura bitters, and a summer rum swizzle mixing Brugal with Curaçao, preserved citrus, mint, and a float of Fernet Branca; $1 from every old fashioned sold will be donated to a local arts charity, and the bar incorporates collectible glassware designed by Denver-area artists. Happy hour runs all night to serve diners waiting for tables and industry workers, with drinks starting at $3, cocktails up to $13, and special pours reaching around $20; offerings emphasize ease and variety—from East Coast beers to big Cabs by the glass—and there's a small food menu with one prosciutto and one grilled cheese sandwich. Lady Jane is now open at 2021 West 32nd Avenue; hours are 4 p.m. to midnight Monday through Wednesday and until 1 a.m. Thursday through Saturday, and the bar closes Sundays." - Josie Sexton
