"I learned that, founded by its matriarch, this family-owned group has operated for 40 years in the capital city of Dong Nai province and runs six branches in Vietnam; it has chosen San Diego’s Mira Mesa for its first U.S. outpost and is now open with a grand opening scheduled for Thursday, December 22. Operating from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., the daytime restaurant specializes in banh cuon, a breakfast rice roll made from fermented rice batter steamed into thin, delicate sheets and wrapped around savory fillings — Thien Huong offers versions with ground pork, fried onion, egg, or shrimp, served with bean sprouts and Vietnamese ham.
