El Segundo Swim Club Makes a Splashy Return | Eater Houston

"Located at 5180 Avenue L in Second Ward, the city's only private outdoor swim club and bar reopens on Saturday, April 29 as a 15,000-square-foot oasis: El Segundo Swim Club features a full-service bar and a 1,350-square-foot cocktail-depth pool and was designed by Gin Design Group as a fully outdoor space that blends industrial elements and colorful murals with lush landscaping. I note that it's reserved for a 21-and-up crowd and offers day passes starting at $20 that grant access (Saturdays 11 a.m.–7 p.m.; Sundays noon–7 p.m.) to complimentary towel and sunscreen service, changing rooms, lounge chairs, hammocks, and private cabanas for larger groups. The beverage program, built by hospitality vet Chris Frankel, includes mixed-drink carafes, frosty pitchers, summer cocktails, canned beers, and a selection of independent grower champagnes, while a rotating crop of food trucks parks onsite. For 2023 programming, Sunday passes include complimentary 11 a.m. yoga and access to Sound Waves, a new live DJ series that kicks off May 7 with The Faint and will feature national talent such as Washed Out, Neon Indian, Ed Droste (of Grizzly Bear), Twin Shadow, Them Jeans, Disko Cowboy, and Fat Tony; day passes are available via the company’s website and on Tock." - Megha McSwain
