"Operating out of Culver City since 1991 is Cafe Brasil, one of Los Angeles’s longest-running Brazilian restaurants. It’s impossible to miss, with hanging bougainvillea on the exterior draped in multiple colors against a charming attached hotel. The interior maintains an equally bright and bold scheme, featuring potted plants, fresh flowers, and almost always on the television screens: fútbol. Try all of the traditional specialties, especially grilled fish with what may be Los Angeles’s savoriest black beans, plantains, rice, and a flaky dusting of farofa (cassava root). To overlook Cafe Brasil’s breakfast would be a crime with its Açaí bowls, pastries, or scrambled eggs, the latter of which comes as a plate with collards, cheese, tomato, cheese bread, plantains, and Brazilian coffee. Bring your own bottle if settling in for dinner or consider the Guarana soda that’s got a nice non-coffee kick with tons of flavor from the Amazon.
