"Located in the new Dua Miami hotel in Brickell, Ahu Mar (stylized AHU l MAR) is a wood-fired seafood restaurant helmed by executive chef Victor Rosado, formerly of Fi’lia. I found the ingredient-led menu emphasizes seafood and grilled dishes, with starters such as oysters, lemon pepper calamari, shrimp ceviche with coconut leche de tigre and jalapeño, brioche Parker rolls, a grilled watermelon salad with feta, mint, and citrus vinaigrette, and beef carpaccio with mustard vinaigrette; wood-fired pizzas include a Margherita with mozzarella and basil and a truffle pizza with black truffle cream. From the grill there are choices like branzino filet with parsley aioli, grilled octopus, a 12-ounce rib eye with black pepper jam, 24-hour chicken, and a seafood asopa’o with shrimp and mussels, while other menu highlights include corn raviolo with lobster, spice duck, crispy potatoes with parmigiano and pecorino, and baby carrots with spiced tahini. The bar offers beers, wines by the glass, and a creative cocktail program — highlights include the “Sitting Pretty” (tequila with strawberry and basil), the rum-and-blackberry “Boronica,” and the smoky mezcal-and-chocolate-bitters “Cerebral Sipper” — and the space, which took over the former Fi’lia location, has been revamped with light woods and warm tones, upholstered chairs and cushioned banquettes, an open layout with clear views of the bar and wood-fired oven, and framed black-and-white photographs. Ahu Mar is open daily for breakfast from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. (bar open from 10 a.m. to midnight), lunch noon to 4 p.m., happy hour Monday–Friday 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. (bar bites on Saturdays and Sundays 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.), and dinner daily from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m." - Olee Fowler
