"In Lakeview I found a neighborhood panadería that feels like a barrio staple where staff know regulars by name: Artemio Cancino, who hails from Guanajuato, opened this location in 1988 after an earlier Wicker Park shop, and the bakery has adapted as the neighborhood changed. The selection ranges from traditional orejas and ojo de buey to tres leches, brownies and cupcakes, and the bakers occasionally feature regional specialties from Guerrero, Puebla or Michoacán. Customers also request a sweet roll called pan de pueblo rooted in Guerrero, and the bakery notably offers pan de muerto year-round (sans the traditional sprinkled sugar outside of October)." - Brenda Storch
