"Creekwood is almost ready to open in South Berkeley after five years of renovations. Initially planned as a catering business and daytime cafe by longtime friends Greg Poulios and Mark Louie, it evolved into a restaurant due to construction and permitting issues. Located at 3121 Sacramento Street, it's envisioned as a Cal-Italian restaurant featuring Neapolitan pizzas, fresh pastas, seasonal salads, and some appetizers. The restaurant will start with dinner service, expanding to brunch and eventually a classic American weekday menu. The 1,700-square-foot space will seat 50 inside and 16 outside, decorated with reclaimed Douglas Fir, white tile, and warm, 1920s-style Holophane lights. Poulios and Louie, both former Zuppa colleagues, are bringing in former Zuppa chef Liam Bonner to lead the kitchen." - Janelle Bitker
