"Shortly after opening its first area location in the Heights this past spring, Postino WineCafé will launch a second wine-all-day outpost in Montrose early next year at 805 Pacific Street, in the space formerly occupied by Montrose Mining Company. The concept is built around repurposing historic spaces — Postino’s first Arizona location opened 18 years ago inside a revamped 1940s post office, which is how Postino (Italian for “postman”) got its name — and the 3,500-square-foot Montrose location will feature “eclectic decor” reflecting its artsy neighborhood. Co-founder Lauren Bailey said walking into the old Montrose Mining Company “gave us goosebumps” and that they’re thrilled to honor its historic legacy; she also praised Montrose’s civic pride, robust arts scene, diversity, authenticity, and history. The menu will mirror other locations, with multiple bruschetta offerings topped with sweet and spicy pepper jam and goat cheese, prosciutto with figs and mascarpone, and ricotta with dates and pistachios, plus shareable charcuterie and cheese boards, paninis, salads, and soups. Advanced Sommelier Brent Karlicek curated a list of more than 30 wines and beer, and Postino will offer glasses of wine and pitchers of local brews priced at $5 from open to 5:00 p.m., positioning it as one of Houston’s premiere day-drinking destinations; it is set to debut in Montrose in 2019." - Alaena Hostetter
