"Opening August 25 in a former Frosty Queen drive-thru, this third outpost brings an outstanding new option to the north Valley while fulfilling owner Allen Yelent’s long-held wish to be closer to his Chatsworth roots. After a quiet soft opening to train staff, locals quickly lined up—Yelent told me, “We’re already busier than Chinatown ever was,” noting the community’s nostalgia for the site’s Frosty Queen (’70s) and earlier Dairy Queen (’60s) history. The menu mirrors Los Feliz and Highland Park with single or double smash burgers, a thick six-ounce bar burger, a Reuben, a patty melt, hot pastrami, and a mushroom-and-oat vegetarian patty, plus curly or standard fries. To beat the heat, there’s soft serve and milkshakes made with organic milk from Strauss Family Creamery in chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, and crushed Oreo, with breakfast sandwiches and burritos planned. The dining room seats 22 with 30 more on the patio; the drive-thru isn’t operational yet but could be soon. It’s open Thursday through Monday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and on Friday and Saturday until 10 p.m." - Mona Holmes
