"Planned since 2017 and sited next to Liverpool Street Station, this 42,000 sq ft Italian food-hall complex will open in stages: from 29 April the food hall and outdoor dining terrace will launch with takeaway pizza, pasta, gelato, cannoli and spritz; on 20 May two restaurants—Cucina del Mercato and Pasta e Pizza—and a cooking school will begin service; and in September a fine-dining restaurant called Terra will debut. Part retail marketplace and part multi-restaurant destination, it leans into a theatrical, benevolently over-the-top celebration of Italian gastronomy — an ethos summed up by its “Eat, Shop, Learn” approach and a focus on artisanal producers and togetherness — while also promising to implement necessary safety measures. Arriving in a London market where many food halls have been hit by COVID, its retail/dining split is intended to offer greater resilience as it courts locals with an abundance of classic Italian dishes and convivial dining experiences." - James Hansen
