"I discovered a 1,400-square-foot hybrid pilates studio and full-service coffeeshop at 2144 W. Roscoe Street opened by pilates instructor Jacquelyn Brennan and her husband Ryan Brennan; they call it Pilates + Coffee and believe it's America's first combination pilates studio and full-service coffeeshop. The studio portion opened in October and the café opened last week, with the front of the space designed as a cafe because many of Jacquelyn’s clients already frequented coffeeshops. They serve Ipsento Coffee — reportedly the first coffeeshop to offer Ipsento’s signature lattes outside the roaster's shops in Bucktown and along the 606 — plus draft coffee and packaged snacks from Real Good Juice Co.; their signature Roscoe Joe is an espresso over ice with San Pellegrino, simple syrup, and whipping cream (it looks like a Guinness but tastes light). For families they offer a kid-friendly latte called the Little Roscoe Rascal (steamed organic milk with Jo Snow vanilla syrup) and scones from Scone City in Wicker Park. The cafe has seven seats and three tables, offers WiFi but isn't meant for all-day laptop use, and the owners are working on a patio for more outdoor seating; current hours are 7 a.m. to noon on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on weekends, with plans to extend to 4 p.m. daily in mid-April. They've trademarked the name, received international interest (including from Australia), and emphasize that the cafe is meant for the whole neighborhood, not just pilates clients." - Ashok Selvam
