"Drinks and a show just got an upgrade with the debut of an immersive theatrical experience called Amparo, now showing Thursday through Sunday through September 29 in a private villa in Downtown Miami (221 NE 17th Street). It tells the story of the Arechabala family, the founders of The Real Havana Club rum, pairing the two-hour play with a series of rum cocktails. Akin to immersive plays like New York City’s Sleep No More, theatergoers are encouraged to choose their own journey through routes such as ‘nostalgia’ or ‘justice.’ The play centers on the history behind Havana Club rum set in 1957 Cuba and follows cast members through the Cuban Revolution and its impact on them and their company. Because the show focuses on an alcoholic beverage, there are plenty of cocktails to try during the performance, including the Hemingway-approved Guayabita Daiquiri; the Havana Especial made with pineapple and rum; the Havana Cafe combining cold brew and sweet vermouth; the Clásico 1934, a modern take on a Manhattan; and the Airmail, a Caribbean version of a champagne cocktail. Tickets are $79 per person." - Olee Fowler
