"A nationally-acclaimed New Orleans coffee roaster loved by the city’s restaurants and its home-delivery customers has closed its Tchoupitoulas Street roasting facility, with its Algiers Point cafe soon to follow, though both may reopen under new ownership. Congregation Coffee Roasters was started in 2015 by Eliot Guthrie and Ian Barrilleaux after working together at Cochon Butcher and found success supplying top local restaurants, grocery stores, and building a large subscription business; Food & Wine named it the best coffee roaster in Louisiana in 2018. Guthrie, now the sole owner and also an owner at Duke Walter’s (which operates out of the kitchen at Finn McCool’s), says he has been wanting to move on “for some time” and is negotiating with a local group interested in maintaining the brand, but cautions the cafe may close temporarily or limit hours in the meantime." - Clair Lorell
