"Opened as a second outpost after a two-year search that only became possible due to pandemic-driven vacancies, this Montana Avenue restaurant—taking over the former Osteria Bigoli space—launched on March 24 at 7 a.m. It seats up to 30 diners with both indoor and outdoor space and features a mural titled “Malibu Sunrise” by artist Pau Quintanajornetadorns. The menu largely mirrors the original perennially packed West Hollywood daytime spot, including about half a dozen varieties of griddle cakes, a breakfast sandwich stuffed with sausage, egg, and cheese, and numerous sides; Santa Monica-specific items include vegan and gluten-free banana nut griddle cakes served with a vegan cinnamon butter, plus pantry items for sale like eggs, avocados, and griddle cake mixes. Champagne and sake Bloody Marys will be offered once the beer-and-wine license is finalized, and future plans include special hashes, farmers-market fruits, possible pies, and after-hours pop-ups with like-minded chefs; a third location is planned for the fall on Main Street in a shared space with Standing’s Butchery. The restaurant is open for takeout and delivery daily from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m." - Cathy Chaplin
