"Founded by sisters who bought a gas station convenience store in Franklin, Tennessee and turned it into a restaurant serving their grandmother’s Mexican recipes—tamales, pozole, and tortas. After early struggles with overcooking and teaching unfamiliar customers how to eat tamales, tamales became the top-selling, grab-and-go item (easy to eat in the car). The spot retains some indoor seating but relies mostly on drivers and to-go sales; the owners plan to add a patio with picnic tables and music to create a relaxed gathering space." - Trisha Gopal
